R. Philip M. North Q.C.
Phil was born in Deloraine, Manitoba, attended Brandon College and the University of Manitoba. Phil originally developed the Blairmore and Pincher Creek branch offices and has served as the Managing Partner of the firm.
He has served the profession and community extensively, including being a Bencher of the Law Society, Chairman of the Alberta Law Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Lethbridge, President of the Lethbridge Rotary Club, Chair of the Alberta Legal Education Society, Chair of the Lions Eye Bank (Alberta) Society and was a Member of the Community Foundation of Canada.
Phil received the Distinguished Service Award in the year 2000, from the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association (Alberta Branch). In the spring of 2004, Phil was awarded an honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Lethbridge. Phil and Freda have three children and Phil's other outside interests include hockey and gardening.

Wayne C. Petersen
Wayne was born and raised in Southern Alberta and attended the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, the University of Lethbridge, and Queen's University in Ontario. Aside from his general practise of law, Wayne has a special interest in Employment Law. He currently serves as the firm's Managing Partner.
Wayne and Pat have two grown boys. Wayne's outside interests include golf and cruising on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He has served as president of the Lethbridge Bar Association, chairman of the Board of Directors of St. Michael's Health Centre, committee member for the Lethbridge and District Chamber of Commerce, and president of both the Alberta Golf Association and the Royal Canadian Golf Association. Wayne currently serves as general counsel to the Canadian Professional Golf Tour. Wayne is an appointee to the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame and a member of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland.
Recently Wayne has expanded his long-time interest in the military by accepting an appointment as Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the 18th Air Defence Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery in Lethbridge.

Douglas R. Lint Q.C.
Doug was born in Nelson, BC, and attended the University of Alberta. Doug is a significant component of the Lethbridge practice and attends our Taber office. He has a particular interest in financial and bankruptcy matters and has instructed courses for the Legal Education Society of Alberta in both Business and Creditor-Debtor Law.
Doug has served as a member of the Education Committee and Articling Subcommittee for the Law Society of Alberta. Doug and Suzanne have three children and Doug has been involved with the Southern Alberta Art Gallery and the West Winds Gymnastic Club.

Barrie G. Broughton
Barrie was born in Lethbridge, raised in Calgary and attended university in Edmonton. He has practiced since 1978 as a tax and corporate commercial lawyer. Aside from corporate reorganizations and commercial transactions his practice is focused on owner-manager businesses, wills, succession and estate planning. He co-founded a local manufacturing company in 1980, and maintains the family's agricultural interests.
Since 1993 Barrie has also worked as a mediator and arbitrator in selected practice areas. He is a member of the Law Society, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is also active in community work including the Lethbridge College, the University of Lethbridge, and the Rehabilitation Society of Southwestern Alberta to name a few.
In his spare time he enjoys sports and music. Barrie and Marion have four children.

Alexander G. McKay Q.C.
Sandy was born and raised in Lethbridge. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Lethbridge in 1974 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Alberta in 1978.
Following his graduation from the University of Alberta, Sandy returned to Lethbridge to article and has remained here to practice. Sandy's primary focus in practice is civil litigation.
Sandy is married with two children. Outside the office, Sandy has been and continues to be involved at the community level and with the legal profession. He has sat on the Regional Committee of the Legal Aid Society of Alberta, Board of Directors of the Rehabilitation Society of Southwestern Alberta, the Board of Directors of the Lethbridge Country Club, the Board of Directors of Lethbridge Community Foundation, the Board of Directors of Lethbridge Legal Guidance, Board of Directors of the Lethbridge Bar Association and is a member of the Claims Committee of the Alberta Lawyers Insurance Association.

Garry W. Kaskiw
Garry is a Lethbridge native who attended both the University of Lethbridge and the University of Alberta. His practice has concentrated largely in the Real Estate and Financing areas of the law at both residential and commercial levels, and he has been an active participant on committees with the Law Society of Alberta in this ever-changing field. Although based in our Lethbridge office, Garry also attends our Taber branch as well.
Aside from having held numerous positions with the United Way, Garry has, throughout his professional life, continued with his avid interest in team sports competing in both hockey locally and slo-pitch nationally. Player participation is slowly giving way to coaching baseball at the youth level, with training and education under the National Coaching Certification Program. Garry and Elvira have two children.

Brian J. Murray
Brian was born in Lethbridge and graduated from the Universities of Lethbridge and Calgary. He is a Director of the Lethbridge and District Exhibition Ag-Expo Committee that organizes one of the largest agricultural shows in Canada each year.
In addition to the practice of law, Brian runs a farm and a feedlot in Southern Alberta. The Murray family is also very active in the sport of competitive swimming; his son represents Canada at the World level. Brian is a Director and Member of the Lethbridge Master's Swim Club. Brian is the Partner in charge of our extensive branch office system. His practice is focused on Business Law and Estate Planning.

Glen W. Wright
Glen was born in Whitecourt, Alberta and raised in Warner. Glen attended at the University of Lethbridge and later the University of Alberta, and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2005. Glen practiced as an associate at a well-known Alberta law firm before returning to Southern Alberta to join us in 2006. Glen and his wife Patricia enjoy golf, camping and fishing in their spare time.
Glen practices in areas of law including Commercial Real Estate and Land Development, Residential Real Estate, Banking and Secured Transactions for Lenders and Borrowers, Share and Asset Acquisitions and Dispositions, Corporate Organization and Restructuring, General Corporate and Commercial Matters

Leiflynn Mund
Leiflynn was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and raised on a farm near Churchbridge, Saskatchewan.
She received her B.A. Honours in International Studies and LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan.
Her academic interests include agricultural issues in Canada and developing countries, including agricultural law, agrarian reform, and food security.
Leiflynn practices corporate and commercial law.

Doug Young
Doug was born in Regina but was raised in his formative years at Swift Current, Sask. For various periods from 1966 through to 1978 he served with the RCM Police in B.C., Sask. and Alberta. In addition he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Univ. of Sask. (Regina Campus) in 1971 and thereafter his Juris Doctor from the Univ. of Sask (Saskatoon Campus) in 1974.
Thereafter he articled in Vegreville in 1978, before permanently moving to the Crowsnest Pass in 1979 to join in a practicing legal partnership in that community. In 1992, Doug set up his practice as a sole full service proprietorship which he continued to operate until joining with North & Co. in Sept of 2010. Doug's primary focus in his practice is Real Estate, Contracting & Land Development, Wills and Estates, Corporate and Commercial and Municipal Law, however as a Certified Mediator he will be continuing to work with Divorce and Matrimonial Property clients.
Over the past 32 years Doug has been involved with many community organizations serving on both member and executive positions. Doug served as the President of the Crowsnest Pass Golf and Country Club for 16 years and saw the course developed from a small town 9 hole course to a challenging 18 hole mountain course.

Anita I. Wahl
Anita was born and raised in Medicine Hat and obtained both her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelors of Law Degrees from the University of Alberta. Prior to moving to Lethbridge in 1991, Anita practiced law in both Red Deer and Medicine Hat. Before joining the law firm of North & Company, Anita had a general practice of law, and since being with our firm has focused primarily in the area of Family Law. She attends our Taber branch office each Monday, and practices all areas of law while there.
Anita is also a trained Mediator and Collaborative Family Law lawyer. She has volunteered and continues to volunteer on a number of local boards including the Lethbridge Collaborative Law Group, the Lethbridge Bar Association, and Family Centre as president and now as their past president. Anita has also presented a number of seminars for the Lethbridge College through their Public Legal Education Program.
Since moving to Lethbridge, Anita has become a rural resident and enjoys country living and activies. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her 2 grown daughters.

Heather A. Donison
Heather was born in Lethbridge, and graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a B.Ed., physical education major, and from the University of Alberta where she obtained her law degree.
Originally a teacher, Heather now focuses her law practice primarily on personal injury where she is able to utilize her background in anatomy and kinesiology. Heather is a member of the Alberta Trial Lawyers Association and currently serves as the Representative for the Judicial District of Lethbridge/Macleod.
Outside of the office, Heather was distinguished by being named Female Slo-pitch Player of the Year in Alberta in 1991. Heather was a member of medal-winning teams at the National, Regional and Provincial levels in slo-pitch and volleyball. Today, Heather is an avid golfer competitively, and recreationally with her husband, Don, and with her family.

Valerie Saje
Valerie was born in Ontario and attended Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Western Ontario. After graduating from law school in 1993, Valerie moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. There, she joined a law firm to practice corporate and commercial law where she eventually became partner.
In 2001, she moved to Calgary to join the legal department of a national telecommunications company and most recently was legal counsel for an international online financial services company. Valerie's areas of interest include e-commerce and privacy laws.
Valerie recently moved to the Crowsnest Pass with her husband Andrew and now practices in our Pincher Creek and Blairmore offices.
Valerie is currently involved with the Crowsnest Pass Chamber of Commerce and in her spare time enjoys running, cycling and hiking.

Scott Harling
Scott A. Harling was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He achieved a diploma in Sports Administration from Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta in 2000. Following this, Mr. Harling attended the University of Lethbridge where he graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Management in 2003. Scott then returned to Winnipeg where he obtained his LL.B. from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in 2006. Scott was called to the bar in the Province of Alberta in October of 2007.
Scott takes an active role in volunteerism in Lethbridge. He volunteers on the boards of Lethbridge Legal Guidance, the Young Professionals Association of Lethbridge, the Lethbridge Bar Association and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Booster club. Scott also acts as a volunteer for the Lethbridge Legal Guidance evening clinics and has given various seminars for the Public Legal Education Network of Alberta. Scott has also been a sessional instructor at the University of Lethbridge in the Faculty of Management, and the legal instructor for the Parenting After Separation course offered at the Family Centre.
Outside of work and volunteering Scott has a wonderful wife, Heather and two beautiful twin girls. The Harlings enjoy going to the various parks in Lethbridge, swimming, skating, gardening, visiting with friends and family and walking their dog Lucky.
Scott's preferred areas of practice include: civil litigation, real estate, wills and estates and family law.

Kerry Gellrich
Kerry was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and raised in Lethbridge. She received her B.A. Honours in Political Science from the University of Lethbridge and her LL.B. Honours from the University of Alberta.
Kerry's academic interests include general litigation, personal injury litigation, and family law.
In her free time, Kerry enjoys golfing, camping, and reading. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Trevor, and their cat, Meow.

Karen Currie
Karen was born and raised in Calgary. After working for several years as a legal assistant, she attended the University of Calgary for her undergraduate degree in Psychology and then attended the University of Alberta for her LL.B.
Karen moved to Vulcan, Alberta in 2007 and joined the firm in 2009 as a student. Her areas of interest in law are estate planning and business law.
In her free time Karen enjoys RV'ing, photography and training her dogs.

Michael Gabriel
Mike was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta. He received his B.A. Honours in Philosophy from the University of Lethbridge, his M.A. in Philosophy from Dalhousie University and his LL.B. from the University of Alberta.
Mike articled and practiced in Edmonton prior to moving to Lethbridge and joining the firm. His academic interests include personal injury litigation and general litigation.
Outside of the office, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife, Jeanna, and their son, Nicholas. He is also very active in golf, both recreationally and competitively.

Nikki van Mulligen
Nikki was raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta and she moved to Lethbridge following university. She received her Bachelor of Commerce with a dual major in Finance and Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Calgary in 2007 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2010.
Nikki's primary practice interests are corporate-commercial law, tax law, and estate planning.

Chris O'Meara
Chris went to high school in Lethbridge before moving to Montreal where received his B.A. in English Literature from McGill University and his M.A. in English Literature from Concordia University. In 2005, he moved to South Korea where he taught English at the high school and university levels. Chris began his law studies at the University of Alberta in 2008 and received his LL.B in Spring 2011.
Chris has broad practice interests, including the areas of real estate, employment and wills and estates. Chris is articling at North & Company, with his bar call expected to be sometime in July 2012.
