Gilbert Eagle Bear, B.MGT, LL.B.

Gilbert was born in Fort MacLeod, Alberta and was raised on the Blood Reserve.

After graduating from High School in 1998, Gilbert went on to obtain a Bachelor of Management Degree at the University of Lethbridge. Gilbert then went on to study at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba and graduated in April 2006. While in Winnipeg, Gilbert was actively involved in the Law School Curling League and also traveled to Toronto, ON for the 2006 Kawaskimhon Aboriginal Law Moot.

Gilbert’s Blackfoot name is Iya’ksi’sa (Left Hand) and is a member of the Puts’takii (Shoots Up) Clan. His parents are Gilbert Eagle Bear Sr. (Aapsikayokitopi – Rides Horse with Spotted Sides) and Velma Eagle Bear (Oot’tahkwikayispooki – Yellow Squirrel Woman).

Gilbert and his wife Kelli have one child.
