Leiflynn was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and raised on a farm near Churchbridge, Saskatchewan.

She received her B.A. Honours in International Studies and LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan.

Her academic interests include agricultural issues in Canada and developing countries, including agricultural law, agrarian reform, and food security.

In her free time, she enjoys running, various art projects, and training her superdog, Chai.
